Growing up in New Hampshire, I began my athletic career cross-country skiing with my parents. As I got older, I continued to ski, while also exploring martial arts and tennis. In high school, I captained the cross-country ski team, mainly because I loved being outside. When I discovered CrossFit through a club at Middlebury College, I was focused on endurance training, but immediately, I found that I had been missing out on some huge components of fitness – strength and gymnastics. After a few months of training CrossFit, I knew that I would do it the rest of my life.
After my second year in college, I decided to get my CrossFit Level 1 certification and get more students interested in CrossFit by helping lead the club. Then, during graduate school, I started coaching part-time at a CrossFit gym in Monterey, CA, before moving back to New Hampshire, getting my CrossFit Level 2 certification, and coaching at Upper Valley CrossFit. Every gym I have coached at has been a wonderful community full of people that are committed to improving themselves and pushing those around them to do the same. It has been a joy to apply the fitness that CrossFit builds, not only in the gym, but also during competition, hiking outside, or playing other sports, like jiu jitsu and tennis. This year, I competed in the Northern California Classic in the intermediate male pairs division and got third place with my friend and fellow CrossFit coach Mat!
CrossFit helps people live long, healthy lives free of chronic pain. Sharing CrossFit with people is rewarding for me as a coach because I get to see people move better, get stronger, learn new skills, and have a blast making all that progress. I am so happy to be coaching at CrossFit Route 7, and I am excited to get to know the community.
